Tips on Coffee Making
| 1. |
Grinding |
| |
Ideally,
it is best to freshly grind your own beans just before use. How
you grind your coffee will play a big part in the quality of the
coffee you brew. |
|
|
-
|
Grind
size should be appropriate to your brewing method, “Fine”
for espresso, “Medium” for a paper filter and “Coarse”
for a plunger (French press). Over time, adjust the degree you grind
your coffee to your personal tastes. The finer the grind, the more
intense the final coffee flavor and bitterness in the brew. |
| |
-
|
Ideally,
use a “burr” grinder instead of a “propeller”
type grinder as it produces a more even grind result and in most
cases builds up, helping to keep the flavor in the coffee. |
| 2.
|
Usage |
| |
The
following is just a guide and should be varied according to personal
taste and coffee brewing method. |
| |
-
|
1
level tablespoon (7 grams) per regular sized coffee cup (170ml).
For large mugs (300ml) – 1 to 2 tablespoons per mug. |
| |
-
|
Store
in a cool place. Use either our re-sealable bags or a dark and airtight
container.
Keep in mind, ground coffee will lose its freshness faster than
whole beans. |

B. Coffee Bags - Tips on How To Use
| 1.
|
Cup
Size |
| |
Our
coffee bags are designed for regular coffee cups and small mugs,
(around 200ml). "smaller cup = less water = stronger coffee" and
visa versa. Coffee strength can be adjusted to personal taste by
using larger or smaller cups or varying the level to which you fill.
For breakfast most people prefer a less strong but larger coffee
but a smaller stronger coffee in the evening. |
| 2. |
Water
Temperature |
| |
The
water temperature used for brewing coffee should be "just off the
boil" (say 95 Deg C). As a guide, simply let freshly boiled water
sit for 1 or 2 minutes before use. Use of boiling water at 100 Deg
C tends to give "burned" taste. Use of water below 85 Deg C tends
to be too cool to give proper extraction of the coffee flavor. Hot
water dispensers tend to operate between 60 to 80 Deg C and should
be avoided. 3 The time you take to drip the coffee through the coffee
bags will lead to slightly stronger or weaker coffee. Always remember
to stop when the cup is 2/3 full to avoid overfilling the cup. |
